Longest Days
I don’t know how
It came to be
Where you cannot hear
And I cannot see
Was it always this way?
I can’t seem to remember when
Just fading memories
Of the places where we’ve been
If I could only be sure
Perhaps I could lead the way
But here we are again
Still I have no words to say
I would beseech you as friend
For us to try to make our amends
Let’s look for something beyond ourselves
Something more beautiful than silence
And I don’t know where
I found myself along the way
So many truths to bear
Leave me living day to day
It wasn’t always this way
I’d say some things were simpler then
But that is not today
Today I must start again
I would beseech you as brother
To help to find some hope in this clutter
Let’s look for something inside of ourselves
Something more beautiful than silence
Is that the same old moon
I see reflected in the Bay?
Same one of childhood Junes
Those were the longest days
