In Search of a Unified Theory
(2007) - Purchase Here
The album is finished. And we’re so proud of it. So proud.
In Search of a Unified Theory is an attempt to capture the hopeful frustration of trying to live consistently, trying to find a theory that explains it all. We live so fragmented…and so skeptical of (or so blindly embracing) any one Theory it All. Still, I (do you?) long for something to make sense of it all, to help me understand, to give me direction and meaning.
It’d be easy to settle for religion or politics or science or something else. But what about reconciling our lofty philosophies with the day in, day out of our REAL existence?
That’s what this album grapples with…LIFE. Real Life.
Daniel Dixon joins us on this project as co-producer and fellow musician and general song-crafter. Jared Milos holds up the low end on most of the tunes with his clever upright. Holly weaves her own thoughts and melodies throughout the album. And many other musicians lent their talents and time to help craft this soundtrack for a revolution.

[…] Music Review: In Search of a Unified Theory 30 05 2007 In Search of a Unified Theory is a refreshing album. This new release builds on the last album, “But I Tell You.” Ryan is a master story-teller that never stops asking questions. This album is raw, gritty and spiritual. A mixture of anger, frustration, love and hope. Truthfully I feel like I’m hanging in a living room having a conversation with Ryan and Holly; discussing issues that are frustrating and hard to grasp. Yet these questions need to be asked, the story needs to be told. This album will also bring conviction to your soul and hope to your heart. […]

[…] I just downloaded In Search of a Unified Theory by The Cobalt Season from iTunes. I love it! It’s a perfect soundtrack for our Anabaptist-laden church planting activity in Lancaster City, PA. Seriously, go listen! […]
